Landseer is a rescue
dog, family member and also the moving spirit of creators. Our
friendship with this breed lasts over ten years already. The Kennel
Grafika was founded in 1999 and after a few years it was remanded
with one more - Caucasian ovcharka breed. Currently we have three
Landseer ladies in our kennel: Fauną Grafika, Indira Grafika and
Boni Grafika, and also Caucasian ovcharkas - Lota Eglute and Dora
Grafika.
Landseer female dog Briga
was our first pup. It was a year of 1995, we lived in a block of
apartments dreaming of a family dog. We even hadn’t a thought about
dog breeding or shows. There were the first Landseers we saw when we
came to breeders to have a look at puppies. They fascinated us: a
huge and very calm dog stared at us, and puppies like little bears
tumbled, played and fawned around. Our decision came very fast. No
one of our family members was left indifferent. We tried to get away
the thought this dog might be too big for our apartment. We were
right, even after a little fluffy grew up into a big bear looking
dog, also called darling by breeders, we had enough space for
everybody in our flat. These dogs do not require much space and are
calm enough, yet they never become indifferent for their keepers even
if ones stepped out just for a few minutes.
Only after four years
we decided to try to participate in a dog show. There was a single
aim – getting evaluation, enabling us to breed dogs with documents.
We wished our pup would have progeny. Briga got excellent scores and
in the winter of 1999 she calved six Landseer puppies: Fauna, Flora,
Freja, Frakas, Fricas and Frijas. That way, the December 15th
of 1999 came into history as the beginning of the Kennel Grafika. We
chose this name because the breed of Landseers got the name of the
artist Sir Edwin Henry Landseer. Even though dogs inherit geographic,
national, country or breeders names in kinology, this time it
happened because of Muse. It inspired E. Landseer to paint. We came
to decision, that name of our kennel should be related to arts,
because arts are close to our family also.
We left for ourselves
a Landseer female puppy Fauna Grafika from the first litter. After a
couple of years we moved to a country side and it was like a paradise
for our dogs, and we were glad having excellent guards. On the May
5th, 2002 the second litter of our kennel was born because of Fauna
Grafika and Hitchcock nuo Ozo kalvų. This wonderful male dog has
become an international champion. Even though the litter was not a
large one, only four dogs (Indira, Itakė, Irius, Ikra), it was yet
perspective. Indira Grafika – is a leading dog and the pride of our
kennel.
In the autumn of the
year 2002 our kennel was remanded with one more - Caucasian ovcharka
breed. Sure, we need to recognise, we have partiality for large dogs,
so we couldn’t stay indifferent because of their leadership, strong
instincts, giant power and grand physique. These dogs either become
leaders or obey ones. There are not compromises, dog keepers must
become leaders. There was any disappointment after we purchased
female puppy Lota Eglute. All advises how to breed the dog were very
useful, though “education” did not bring too much difficulties.
We are very proud of our well bred and good minded Caucasian ovcharka
and also would like to point out that a “good blood” is extremely
important in dog breeding. It is only feasible when stud dogs are
selected very carefully: they must regularly participate in dog
shows, get good scores, and pass psychical tests. Only then you may
expect to maintain the breed standards and get good minded dogs.
Unfortunately it is still common to purchase dogs without documents,
knowing nothing about their parents. Of course, education is very
important, so we always tray to provide new dog owners with as much
information as possible. We feel a great responsibility for setting
the full of trust contact between keeper and pup from early days.
